ASCS - An Academically focused, Spiritually alive Community of Saints in training!
I would like to thank all of the staff, students, and families for welcoming me to ASCS. It has been a very busy first few weeks with many unforseen issues that included a heat wave, beginning school with limited staff, a possible hurricane, and other issues! You have supported me with patience and kindness and I am very grateful for your assistance. As the new ASCS principal, I cannot stress enough how much your continued support means to me. ASCS has a legacy for exemplifying the moral characteristics and dedication of the religious men and women that have been declared saints. Saint Pope John Paul II said that, " Catholic educationa is above all a question of communicating Christ, of helping to form Christ in the lives of others. " As a school family we strive to become saints ourselves. We are all saints in training as we endeavor to live our lives based on the model that Jesus Christ has established for us through Catholic teaching. I have witnessed your dedication to your children, the staff her, and the community by your willingness to set up classrooms, support the teachers, and beautify the school. I am humbled by your dedication and willingness to share Chris't love with others.
In an effort to exemplify the calling we have received to become saints, we would like to plan on various community service opportunities throughout the year. We will begin the year by reaching out to help a wonderful organization called Gifts to Give, giftstogive.org
I would invite you to send in a new paclage of children's socks for students of all sizes from toddlers to teens. We will donate the stockings to the organization so that they can distribute them to needy families. We will be collecting new stockings throughout the month of September. If you have an idea for a service learning opportunity please contact the school or join our parent group.
In Christ's Peace,
Carolyn Lavalley, Principal
