All Saints Catholic School Communicator - Friday, October 30, 2020
Greetings All Saints Families!!
We have just completed our ninth week of school! 2020 has been a strange year. I look outside and see that it's snowing, and tomorrow is only Halloween! Yet true to our faith, this weekend we celebrate All Saints Day on Sunday. Monday is All Souls Day and we begin the month of All Souls - remembering in our prayers all those who have died. Our students have begun to send in their prayer remembrance candles and soon you will see them on our front windows.
Calling the school? Our office hours have changed! The ASCS Office is now open 7:30 am - 3 pm. If you have need of assistance before 7:30 am or after 3 pm please call the Extended Care line at 508-985-9637 - note also that this is the same line used during the day to contact the school nurse.
Believe it or not, we are just a few weeks away from the close of the First Trimester. Our students have worked hard and have experienced much success. We are aware that some students may not have not completed or submitted some of their assignments. Please note that Friday, November 20 is the final date to submit late work for reduced credit for Trimester 1.
Distance learning - please note that any Gr 1 - 8 student may choose or may be required to participate in distance learning under the following conditions:
Exposure to Covid or a positive Covid test
If the student is experiencing Covid symptoms or other illness
If parents have prearranged a hybrid schedule with the school
If parents have prearranged short or long term full distance learning with the school
Please note that “pop-up” distance learning days are often counterproductive for both the student and the class. Students most often attend classes without materials, as their books are at school and teachers are left scrambling to provide materials on-line so that students can fully participate. If you are planning to keep your student home for distance learning, even on a sporadic schedule, kindly email the teacher ahead of time (at least the day before) and be sure your student has taken books and materials home. We understand that illnesses and unanticipated situations of need arise and we are willing to accommodate, however we are also experiencing a number of situations where students are unannounced distance learning simply by choice. Many thanks for your understanding and support!,
A financial reminder - We know that these are hard times for a number of our families. Please remember that it is both school policy and in your best interest that families try to keep up with monthly payments and when unable to, at least make a minimum payment on a monthly basis. If you are having difficulty meeting your financial obligations to ASCS, please be sure to contact Mrs.Camara or Mrs. Massoud.

Supporting Our School:
We are in need of high volume hepa/UV air purifiers for our classrooms as we enter the winter months. Donations to the ASCS 2021 Annual Fund are much appreciated - and needed - so that we can purchase these units which will cost over $6000! The ASCS 2021 Annual Fund is focused on defraying the costs of the special items we have needed and will need to purchase to keep our school community safe and socially distanced. To date we have spent over $11,000, which was not originally budgeted. To date we have raised $400! Our Annual Fund link remains open for anyone who would like to contribute. Donations will be billed to your FACTS Incidental Billing or you may send a check to the school.
