Reminders & Announcements
All Souls “Candles”
During the month of November we especially remember to pray for all who have died. We invite families to decorate paper candles in memory of a loved ones or friends who have died and send them to school to be included in our prayers. Please see attached.
Parking Reminder
As emailed to all families in the past weeks,New Bedford Police Department visited us and asked that I remind all families that parking or standing (ie., waiting in the car) is prohibited on the school side of Illinois St. and Ohio Street. Additionally, vehicles may not block crossing lanes, fire hydrants, or driveways or park in the handicapped parking area (unless you possess a handicapped tag). All are reminded that vehicles parked or standing in these areas are subject to be fined or towed. The cooperation of everyone in the All Saints community is needed for the safety of our students!
Student Cell Phone Reminder
Students in grades 5 - 8 must store their phones in the classroom cellphone holders during the entire school day. Cell phones may NOT be used during the school day or in Extended Care and students may NOT video on school property or at school events without the specific permission of the principal. Younger students should NOT be bringing cellphones to school, but if they must for family reasons, they should be silenced and kept in the student’s backpack.
Please refer to the Student & Parent Handbook for full policies. Students failing to follow school electronics policies will have their phones confiscated and/or will lose the privilege of bringing a cell phone/electronics to school.
Bishop Stang High School will hold its annual Open House on Sunday, November 4 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. For more information or to pre-register for the event, visit their Open House Information Page. Bishop Stang High School Information
Upcoming Placement Exam Information:
All 8th grade students within the Diocese of Fall River will take the Scholastic HSPT Placement Exam at their respective schools on Friday, November 30 (prior to the test being offered at diocesan high schools on December 1 & 8). Test results will be returned to each student’s individual school and will provide them with important data to evaluate curriculum and student achievement. If a family chooses for a student to take the exam at Bishop Stang High School instead of at their school, parents are asked to inform their school and pre-register through the link posted above. Students will also be allowed to forward test results to two Diocese of Fall River high schools of their choice. Forwarding the results to the high school will fulfill the placement exam application requirement for any DFR Catholic high school. Applicants do not need to do anything else within the application regarding the placement exam. Each student who forwards the results to Bishop Stang High School will be in consideration for the Father Mullaney Merit Scholarship, which awards $1000 toward freshman year tuition to the Top Ten Testers. Students take the HSPT only once, and therefore will not be required to take the exam on 12/1 or 12/8. If a student does take the exam a second time, only the lower of the two exam scores will qualify for the merit scholarship.

CoderDojo at UMass Dartmouth
Do you want to learn more about programming? Come spend a couple of hours learning how to code! The CoderDojo movement believes that an understanding of programming languages is increasingly important in the modern world, that it’s both better and easier to learn these skills early, and that nobody should be denied the opportunity to do so. To that end, they've built a global network of free, volunteer-led, community-based programming clubs for young people. Anyone aged seven to seventeen can visit a Dojo where they can learn to code, build a website, create an app or a game, and explore technology in an informal, creative, and social environment. At our event, we offer Scratch and Python/HTML sessions, and this event is FREE.
UMass Dartmouth's Kaput Center announces it's first CoderDojo session!
Saturday, November 3rd from 10am to noon in LARTS 208 &209
Registration now open! Only ticketed participants can attend. Space is limited!!
Please pray for our school, our students, and our families.
Peace in Jesus and Mary,
