Reminders & Announcements
A Helpful Resource
Some of our students are challenged by ADD or ADHD. A growing number are challenged by anxiety. Recently we became aware of a great online resource for both parents and teachers - particularly for ADD/ADHD - https://www.additudemag.com/ . They also provide a free weekly newsletter. While some school accommodations can only be made for students with a diagnosis, there are wonderful tips which will benefit any student who is struggling! Check it out!
Water
Only water may be consumed in the classrooms, although other flavored drinks are acceptable at breakfast/lunch time. Milk and juice are provided with the free breakfast & lunch provided by NBPS. Please be sure your child has a water bottle labelled with his or her name, particularly if the student is remaining for Extended Care. Note that carbonated or flavored water may not be consumed in the classroom.
ASCS Clubs
All club meeting dates are listed in the school calendar – see link above. Your student's clubs are listed on Parentsweb along with classes.
T-shirt orders will be made by September 20 – students joining clubs after that day cannot be guaranteed a club shirt.
Dress uniform vs. Regular uniform
Dress uniform - every Friday and some other special days
Regular uniform - most days except Friday or PE days.
Please note - Our policy of requiring Donnelly's khaki pants is to assure appropriate style (loose "business" /uniform cut) and color when students are in uniform. In observing students this week, we have seen a number of "off color" khakis and snug/form fitting shorts and long pants. If your student is among those wearing the wrong style or color please correct this in the coming week. Contact Mrs. Massoud if you have questions.
Emergency information and closure
Please note that school closures, evacuations and important emergency information are announced on a variety of media outlets ( Fox, Channel 6, etc.) as well as on our webpage, by email and by Parent Alert phone call. If New Bedford Public Schools close because of weather or public emergency, so does ASCS. Please be sure your phone numbers and email address is accurate to assure you are receiving alerts, and on a regular basis, all of your child’s progress, our weekly announcements and incidental/Extended Care billing.
Please pray for our school, our students, and our families.
Peace in Jesus and Mary,
Mrs. Susan Massoud
