All Saints Catholic School Communicator - Friday, December 18, 2020
Greetings All Saints Families!
As we enter the fourth week of Advent we are thankful for sixteen successful weeks of school on site and with distance learners, one snow day, one full remote day - and now two weeks of vacation for families and our incredible faculty and staff! As I greeted each class this morning it was wonderful to see our students present on-line and engaged in learning! We have awesome students and families; many thanks for all of the support of our parents and families in making the efforts of our teachers a success for their students! Check out our Facebook page and website for the staff Ugly Sweater contest and some photos of our December happenings.
Best wishes to all of our families for a Blessed Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Holy New Year! Have a healthy and safe vacation!
Please note that, as of this writing, All Saints will be returning on-site January 4 - 8, unless there are Covid, weather, or other emergency situations impacting that decision. As in the past, parents are asked to switch their student to distance learning if there has been Covid exposure or your child is ill, and may choose to do so if there is concern about Covid levels in the community.
Many thanks to those who have supported our St. Vincent de Paul holiday themed spirit days in November & December. In total we have raised or received on-line pledges for $1000 to help those less fortunate in our local area.
The CDC Covid link which answers many questions about new Covid guidance and quarantine. Please note that ASCS and the Catholic schools in New Bedford are requiring the original 14 day quarantine for return to school, as it is safer for our school community. Please be sure to contact Nurse Erin when you are experiencing a specific Covid situation which involves your student. Local information can be found on the New Bedford Covid Dashboard, which is updated weekly. MA State info (to midnight Dec 15) can be found on the December 17 Weekly Dashboard. New Bedford is currently at and average 111.5 cases per day and 11.48% positivity (14 day average) Please be sure you are aware of the Massachusetts Travel Order Check for the latest advisory on states considered “safe travel” as of the date of your trip.
The Massachusetts Department of Health is now requiring that students must be vaccinated against the influenza virus and must present a certificate of such vaccination to the school before December 31, 2020. Please contact your child’s pediatrician if you need to obtain certification that ‘vaccination endangers your child's health.
Some great press for our Catholic schools: "From Catholic schools to public districts, administrators agree pandemic education is an individual effort” – Sun Chronicle – December 5, 2020. Mr. Bourque was an ASCS teacher 2011- 2014.

Supporting Our School:
The ASCS 2021 Annual Fund is focused on defraying the costs of the special items we have and will need to purchase to keep our school community safe and socially distanced. To date we have spent over $11,000, which was not originally budgeted - our goal is $15,000. To date we have raised $3200 thanks to the generosity of our parents! Our Annual Fund link remains open for anyone who would like to contribute. Please note that the website has been adjusted to accept both Annual Fund and Outreach donations for whatever charity is currently supported - at this time it is St. Vincent dePaul, St. Mary’s Conference. Donations will be billed to your FACTS Incidental Billing or you may send a check to the school.
