November is the month of All Souls!  Let us pray for all those who have died - our family members, friends and all those who have no one to pray for them!

This Week

Helping our neighbors in need: This week’s Thanksgiving food collection is canned vegetables. A $2 donation is also gladly accepted!  Many thanks to the Student Council for organizing this collection in cooperation with the St. Vincent dePaul Chapter at St. Mary’s.

• Fall Fun Spirit Day - $2 or more donation to support Annual Appeal - Wear your favorite fall / Thanksgiving themed or plaid shirt with jeans or ASCS sweatpants & sneakers
• Trimester 1 grades close for Grades 1 - 8

Friday, November 22

• Track Club 2:45 - 4 pm - Parent volunteers needed so that practice can be at Normandin. Please come to school by 2:45 pm.

Reminders & Announcements

Annual Appeal

Contributions to date: $5118!  Many thanks to our donors! Included in that amount is $150 raised at Texas Roadhouse event, $649 raised at Hallowed Halls, $325 raised on Superhero Spirit Day and $125 raised at our Tropical Smoothie Event!  Can you help us? As a school we need to raise $14,000 - which will be matched by St. Mary’s. Your donation to our Annual Appeal assists where our budget cannot!  

 

UMass Dartmouth Research Study

UMass Dartmouth is asking for students (age 6 - 12) and parents to participate in a research project about student sensitivity to rewards. Please see the attached document, which are also available in paper form from the school office. If you are willing to participate, please complete and return the consent form.

 

From Bishop Stang

The Bishop Stang High School Theatre Company extends a special invitation to Greater New Bedford Catholic School students as they proudly present Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring. GNBCS students will gain free admission to the play by presenting a copy of the attached pass. 

Friday, November 15th and Saturday, November 16th at 7:00 pm 

Tickets available at the door: $7/students & seniors; $10/adults

 

Lego Workshops coming in the new year!  

Watch for more information to come about 6 week Lego Workshops to be offered beginning in January.  These will be scheduled on Thursdays and will cost $125 per student. Great Christmas present idea! Dates are already on the school calendar. Fliers should be provided to us soon.
